Women Causing Infertility – The Main Causes Of Fertility Problems In Women
A woman’s ovulation is a essential component of conception. Simply put, if the female is unable to produce an egg, you can expect to have no baby. The main indicators of a possible ovulation problem are either absent or irregular monthly menstruation.
Medical Conditions
Two common situations involving a woman’s ovulation are PCOS and POI. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is characterized by a problem with the hormones, which then affects the normal ovulation process. It is reportedly the highest cause of infertility in women.
On the other hand, primary ovarian insufficiency, is a condition wherein the female’s ovaries cease to function properly before she turns 35 years old. POI is usually mistaken as early-stage menopause, a condition that is a lot different.
Related Causes
There are other uterine problems that also contribute to infertility.
- Uterual Fibroids (i.e. non-cancerous bumps on the uterine walls
- Congested Fallopian tubes caused by ectopic pregnancy surgery, pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis
- Physical issues with the uterus
Factors That Increase Infertility Risks
Beyond problems with health, genetics and lifestyle habits can also lead to infertility among women. Including:
- Cigarette smoking & alcohol consumption
- Lousy diet
- Getting older
- Too much physical activity
- Stress at home or workplace
- Overweight or underweight conditions
- STIs
- Health issues that affect the body’s hormone producing abilities
Infertility Women Causes - The Age Factor
Many American women often do not have children until their 30s and 40s…and one-third of the total number of fertility issues involve women who are more than 35 years old.
Why Does Age Matter To Fertility?
- A woman’s ovaries weaken thru time affecting their capacity to release eggs
- Older gals produce less eggs
- The eggs released as not as healthy as a those of a younger woman
- Health problems that may interfere with fertility creep up as the woman gets older
- The incidence of miscarriage in older women is higher
Stimulating Fertility with Drugs
These drugs are often prescribed for women who have fertility problems.
- Clomiphene citrate: Often recommended for women with PCOS and hormonal related malfunctions. You might recognize it by its popular brand Clomid, an oral drug.
- Human menopausal gonadotropin: hMG is an injection used to stimulate the ovaries directly so that egg formation occurs. Popular names include Pergonal and Repronex.
- Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog: Gn-RH is a medication often prescribed for women who don’t ovulate regularly. It affects the pituitary gland to alter the timing and process of ovulation. It can be purchased either as a nasal spray or in injection form.
- Follicle stimulating hormone: The FSH is also an injectable and acts on the ovaries to encourage ovulation. Common brands are Follistim and Gonal-F.
- Metformin: Metformin is recommended for females who are either highly resistant to insulin or are diagnosed with PCOS. This drug, often taken simultaneously with clomiphene or FSH, is designed to regulate male hormones levels in women and cause them to ovulate.
- Bromocriptine: Prolactin is a hormone that causes production of milk in the mammary glands. Prolactin has the power to stop ovulation, when in adequate levels. Bromocriptine can slow down the release of prolactin and help make ovulation happen.
Multiple Birth Risk
While fertility medications are known to be very successful in helping a woman finally conceive, they also can lead to the formation and development of more than one fetus. Women carrying multiple fetuses experience more problems during pregnancy than their single fetus counterparts. Multiple fetuses in the womb are more likely to be born premature…and a prematurely born infant is more prone to developing health problems at a later age.
Fertility drugs also have a high risk for a medical condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, which can be life threatening.
Because of these health risks & the high cost of assisted reproductive technology, alternative methods have become popular for overcoming infertility without adverse side effects. These remedies cover a range from natural treatments which are intended to assist the body in repairing itself. Some of the common alternative therapies include Chinese medicine, acupuncture and nutrition-based treatments.

Acupuncture is that old time Chinese tradition of inserting needles in different parts of the body to alleviate pain and treat different diseases. According to Chinese philosophy, disease and pain occur due to an imbalance between two main forces of nature known as yin and yang. The Chinese believe that acupuncture restores that balance that has been lost. Experts called acupuncturists insert razor sharp needles at one point or any of hundreds of precise points along the meridians. With the insertion of the razor sharp needles a sharp pinching feeling is created. This feeling rapidly fades away and is replaced by occasional tingling or a sense of lack of sensation, heaviness, or soreness while the needles are in place.
Acupuncture is used to relieve pain and treat several conditions such as arthritis, asthma, ulcers, eye diseases, and even mental illness. It is also believed to aid people in their infertility concerns.
Acupuncture aids in the relaxation of the nerves and muscles of the body. Scientists have suggested three major assumptions for how acupuncture will work.It operates in the assumption that the meridians exist and they are all attached the body organs in a special way.Based on the theory, acupuncture is said to increase the level of activity in the meridians which in turn stimulates the body organs to function well.Scientists believe that acupuncture works in any part as it increases the brain’s production of endorphins also known as natural pain killers. It has been theorize that acupuncture can possibly work all the way to the nervous system as it generates signals that cut through the pain messages sent to the brain.
People who tend to undergo infertility are those who suffer from infertility like those who have blocked fallopian tubes and stress related infertility. It may not be proven that stress is directly related to infertility, relaxation has been recommended as a treatment for infertility. Both men and women who have been diagnosed to suffer from infertility are recommended to take acupuncture as part of their treatment plan. In just 10 visits with an experienced acupuncture specialist, you would know if it would be able to help you with your infertility problems.
